Everybody loves coming in for a bite at Woody’s Wood-fire Pizza, but for the nights when you’re feeling fancy and want to do it yourself, read on for the best pizza crust recipe. Seriously, it’s so good you’ll think you ordered Woody’s pizza—almost.
Most homemade pizza recipes call for a ready-made dough, but tonight we’re going old school.
1 package active dry yeast
1 teaspoon sugar
1 cup warm water
3 cup flour
½ teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons oil
Ready in 1 hour
Makes one pizza
In a medium bowl, dissolve yeast and sugar in warm water. Let stand until creamy, about 10 minutes.
Stir in flour, salt and oil. Beat until smooth. Let rest for 5 minutes.Step 3:
Add salt, oil and rest of flour
Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface and pat or roll into a round.
Transfer crust to a lightly greased pizza pan or baker’s peel dusted with cornmeal. Step 5:
Add sauce, cheese, and any other desired toppings.
Bake in preheated oven at 450 degrees Fahrenheit for 15 to 20 minutes, or until golden brown. Let baked pizza cool for 5 minutes before serving.
