“The Joplin Fire Chiefs says a fire at Woody’s Wood Fired Pizza started in the ceiling in the kitchen area.

The fire happened on Thursday, December 12th, 2019. Joplin firefighters responded shortly after 9:00 p.m. to 1831 W. 7th for a structure fire.

The first crew got there at 9:12 p.m. and found the single-story wood frame restaurant with heavy smoke showing from all sides of the building.

Crews went inside and found the fire in the kitchen area of the ceiling and put it out.

The Joplin Fire Department responded with six units and 18 personnel. They were assisted by METS Ambulance Service and the Joplin Police Department.

No one was injured.

According to Joplin Fire Chief James Furgerson says the cause of the fire has been ruled accidental.

Woody’s Wood Fire Pizza posted on social media: “.. we will be closed for some time as we work on the repairs – no fear, WE ARE COMING BACK!”
